Air India launches Wi-Fi service on select domestic flights

  • by

Air India, India’s premier global airline, has become the first in the country to offer in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity on domestic routes. Starting January 1, 2025, passengers flying on select Air India aircraft – Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and certain Airbus A321neo models – can enjoy complimentary internet access during their journey, making connectivity in the skies a reality.

This groundbreaking move enhances travel experiences for both leisure and business flyers, enabling them to browse, use social media, work, or stay in touch with family and friends.

A NEW ERA OF CONNECTIVITY IN INDIAN AVIATION

Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India, emphasised the importance of connectivity in modern travel, saying, “Connectivity is now an integral part of modern travel. For some, it is about the convenience and comfort of real-time sharing, while for others, it is about greater productivity and efficiency.”

He further stated, “Whatever be one’s purpose, we are confident that our guests will appreciate having the option of connecting to the web and enjoy the new Air India experience on board these aircraft.”

The Wi-Fi service is compatible with multiple devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones, running iOS or Android. Travellers can connect multiple devices simultaneously, ensuring uninterrupted access throughout their journey.

This domestic rollout follows a successful pilot program on international routes, including destinations like New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. The Wi-Fi service remains complimentary for an introductory period on domestic flights, with plans to expand the offering across the airline’s fleet.

EASY STEPS TO CONNECT

Accessing Wi-Fi is simple:

Enable Wi-Fi on your device.

Select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network.

Enter your PNR and last name on the Air India portal.

Enjoy complimentary internet access.

While the service depends on factors like satellite connectivity and government restrictions, Air India’s initiative marks a significant leap in enhancing passenger experience.

With this move, Air India not only sets a benchmark in Indian aviation but also reaffirms its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. Whether for work or leisure, staying connected at 35,000 feet has never been easier!
