The prestigious Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards took place on October 19, celebrating the remarkable achievements of women across various industries. Renowned fashion designer Anita Dongre was honoured with the Best Fashion Designer award at the event.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Dongre reflected on her journey, expressing gratitude and the importance of empowering women. She said, “Thank you, Harper’s, for this honour. Today, I think back to the 18-year-old Anita, whose only purpose was to create designs that make women feel confident, and who began her journey to build a fashion empire. Today, that 18-year-old is living her dream and so much more. I’m fortunate to impact so many lives every day, and I am very mindful of this responsibility.
“My strong wish is for women in our country to dream big and break the shackles of a belief system that says you can’t do it. The fact is, you can, and you will. I’m so thrilled to receive this award from Avani. Ever since I read about Avani [Lekhara], I haven’t stopped thinking about her, her grit, her determination. This is so special to me today because I’m receiving this award from her,” she concluded.
The Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards were based on a unique feature this year. The event aimed at creating a ‘chain of empowerment’ for women by letting every winner present the trophy to the winner of the next category
