Delhi Airport operator DIAL announced on Saturday that there will be no flight arrivals or departures between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm for the next eight days, from January 19 to January 26, 2025, due to Republic Day week activities.
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the busiest airport in the country, handles approximately 1,300 flight movements daily. However, the specific impact of these restrictions on previously scheduled flights across various airlines is not yet clear.
“As per the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued for Republic Day week from 19th to 26th Jan 2025, no flights would be arriving or departing from Delhi Airport between 10:20 AM to 12:45 PM IST,” DIAL said in a post on X.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has advised the passengers to check with their respective airlines for updated flight information.
Daily Flight Disruption Breakdown
- January 19 (Sunday): 85 departures and 85 arrivals affected.
- January 20 (Monday): 85 departures and 84 arrivals impacted.
- January 21 (Tuesday): 79 departures and 81 arrivals affected, the least disrupted day of the week.
- Remaining days: 81 to 84 departures and 82 to 87 arrivals will be impacted daily.
International routes which will be affected
The airspace closure will also affect international flights, including those to major cities like Toronto, Washington, Tashkent, Kathmandu, and Colombo. This closure is essential for ensuring the safety and security of dignitaries and aircraft participating in the Republic Day flypast. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest for India’s Republic Day celebrations on January 26, as announced by the government on Thursday.
