Y-Cook aims to provide food without preservatives and additives. Why is this a key component of your brand, and how do you maintain product integrity while scaling up production?

Replying to it Janardhan Swahar, Managing Director & CEO of Y-Cook India Pvt. Ltd said; Our fundamental philosophy at Y-Cook is to develop food containing no additives and no preservatives. Right from the start, we have developed a distinctive preservation process that manages microbes, temperature, and air content; three primary factors governing food integrity. By maintaining air content very low, we automatically slow down microbial action so that our foods stay safe and fresh without using artificial additives.

Most of our products are proprietary and patented, affirming our dedication to clean, natural food. Even as we grow, we are committed to this method, making sure that each product we put on the market remains true to our purpose. Preservative-free production isn’t merely a business choice for us, it’s the essence of Y-Cook and what we believe in.

Could you explain how Y-Cook’s innovative techniques, such as vacuum-sealing and steaming, help preserve the natural goodness of food without using harmful chemicals or preservatives?

Y-Cook employs retort processing, a highly advanced technique that ensures food safety and longevity without relying on harmful chemicals or preservatives. The process starts with vacuum-sealing the food to eliminate excess air, retaining its natural freshness, nutrients, and flavors. The sealed food is then steamed and cooked in its packaging, just like at home, without any change in taste, texture, or nutritional content.

We employ specially chosen, food-grade polymers that are stable at high temperatures and do not leach out toxic substances when cooked. These materials are thoroughly tested to guarantee there is no plasticizer effect. Y-Cook practices a clean-label policy, that is, no artificial additives or preservatives are included in the products, nor are any refrigeration requirements, thus presenting consumers with natural, pure, and convenient substitutes.

Healthy eating is a growing trend in the market, but many people still struggle with unhealthy snack options. How do you educate your consumers about the benefits of choosing Tadaa and Y-Cook products for their daily nutrition?

Healthy eating is more of a lifestyle, something extremely personal and unique to every individual. We know we can’t all want the same foods, and instead of promoting one specific product, we concentrate on offering clean-label, preservative-free products that easily integrate into an array of lifestyles.

At each touchpoint, sampling events, school programs, and RWA campaigns, we highlight that our products don’t need refrigeration, have no additives, and can be consumed on the go. This ongoing education has established deep customer loyalty. We have seen interactions with consumers, raising their concerns about sodium, energy, and nutrition requirements and creating products that fit their lifestyles. By continuously conveying the value of healthier eating, we will continue to make this message louder to inspire better food choices daily.

Looking ahead, where do you see the healthy snacking market going, and how do you plan for Y-Cook to be at the forefront of these changes?

The food business is a gradual but evolving industry where taste remains the most crucial factor in customer retention. Regardless of how healthy a product is, if it does not please the taste buds, it will not gain consumer loyalty. Food tastes change continuously, and it is difficult to anticipate what consumers will opt for in the long term.          

We, at Y-Cook, strive to provide preservative-free, clean-label offerings that resonate with these changing choices without compromising the taste experience. Through ongoing innovation and response to changing food practices, we envision ourselves at the forefront of healthy snacking. We aim to offer products that naturally integrate with different lifestyles such that healthy food is a sustainable, long-term option for customers.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who want to enter the food industry with a focus on health and sustainability?

Success in the food business is a matter of providing products that do something good for the consumer. Taste,

 nutrition, convenience—success in the food business is based on providing products that truly deliver value to consumers.

Health and sustainability need to be more than fads; they need to be central to your brand. Trust is something that takes time to build, so consistency is the key. The objective is straightforward: treat the person who is consuming your product well, and success will be yours.
