launched by CM Sawant
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated a special train service from Karmali Railway Station located near Panaji, to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on February 6. The service will allow devotees to travel free of charge and attend the Maha Kumbh. The Goa government has arranged for three special trains from the state to Prayagraj for the pilgrims.
Sawant launched the first train at Karmali, which departed with nearly 1,000 devotees from across Goa, embarking on a 34-hour journey to Prayagraj.

The event was also attended by State Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude. Sawant mentioned that the remaining two trains will depart Goa on 13th and 21st February, respectively.
If there is a higher demand, the government may consider adding more free trains, CM Sawant said, according to PTI. He extended his congratulations to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for successfully organising the historic Maha Kumbh event.
Sawant explained that the Goa government decided to offer free train services to accommodate the eager devotees wishing to visit Prayagraj.
He also shared that the state government would provide meals for the devotees during the train journey.
Each group of devotees will have 24 hours to spend at the Maha Kumbh, after which they will return to Goa on the return trains from Prayagraj, he said.
These special trains are part of the Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Yojana. Only individuals aged between 18 and 60, without major health issues, are eligible to travel on these services.
The ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj began on 13th January and will run until 26th February.
