“A fantastic start to 2025. A very memorable meeting with PM @narendramodi Ji. We talked about a lot of things including music of course!” Dosanjh wrote on X, while sharing some pictures of his meeting with the prime minister.

PM Modi also took to X and shared a glimpse of his meeting with the actor-singer.
“A great interaction with Diljit Dosanjh! He’s truly multifaceted, blending talent and tradition. We connected over music, culture and more,” he posted.

Dosanjh concluded his “Dil-Luminati India Tour” in Ludhiana on Tuesday. The event at the Punjab Agriculture University ground on New Year’s eve, marked the end of the singer’s two-month nationwide trek which began in the national capital on October 26.

In the video, PM Modi can be heard saying, “When a boy from an Indian village becomes famous on a global stage, it feels good. Your family named you Diljit, so you are winning everyone’s hearts.” Diljit said, “We would read ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’, but when I started traveling around the country, that is when I realised why they say ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’.” PM Modi nodded in agreement and added, “The size of the country is its strength. We are a vibrant society.”

PM Modi and Diljit then spoke about Yoga and its benefits. Diljit has been very vocal about his experience with Yoga. He said, “The biggest magic that our county has is Yoga” and PM Modi added, “The one who has experienced Yoga, they know its power.” Towards the end of the video, Diljit sang a devotional song and PM Modi seemed to enjoy his music.

In the last few weeks, Diljit has experienced some pushback against his concerts, with some state governments asking him to refrain from singing songs that had references to alcohol and drugs. Diljit made some changes to his lyrics, but made it clear that he doesn’t appreciate the policing of his music. During his concert in Mumbai, he mentioned the Bollywood songs carry more references to drugs and alcohol, and yet, he was singled out. He received similar directives for his show in Hyderabad and Chandigarh as well.
