Taapsee Pannu’s Haseen Dillruba was an intense blend of romance and crime that captivated audiences when it premiered on Netflix in 2021.
The film also featured Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane. Its success prompted the creators to produce a sequel, Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, which became equally popular on the OTT platform earlier this year, topping the charts just like the first installment. The sequel introduced Sunny Kaushal, replacing Rane, whose character met his demise in the original film.
Following the success of both films, Colour Yellow Productions is gearing up for the third installment in the franchise. However, this time, there might be a significant shift in the release strategy. According to Bollywood Hungama, the producers are considering a theatrical release for the third film.
An industry insider revealed, “Given the immense popularity of the first two films on OTT, several distributors have approached the makers, urging them to release the third installment in cinemas. They highlighted the strong demand for a theatrical release of the next Taapsee Pannu-led film. The producers are now seriously contemplating this option.”
If the third Haseen Dillruba film does transition to a theatrical release, it would mark a rare instance of a franchise moving from OTT platforms to cinemas.
