It’s the age of the mini, when it comes to food, at least. Dishes are turning into smaller servings with teaspoon desserts and two- ingredient recipes. Another indulgence that’s taken a smaller, simpler form is the mug cake! As the name suggests, it’s made in a mug and requires minimal effort. Just mix the ingredients, pop it in the microwave, and in a minute or two, your dessert is ready! For those juggling busy WFH schedules, it’s the perfect quick and sweet treat. It’s no surprise that mug cakes became a lockdown favorite, flooding social media feeds everywhere.

This may be just one little mug, but it holds quite a few fun taste possibilities. Make anything from a plain sponge to gooey chocolate, carrot and pineapple cake and red velvet. Essentially, to make it, you use the ingredients for a normal cake, but in a much smaller proportion and everything is mixed together in the mug. Pop this into the microwave and it’s done!
